All the Colors

This is the time of year, if you appreciate color, to find art hidden in waters.  The sunfish of Texas are filled with colors not found many other places in nature.  This is the time of year to appreciate the small things, the strokes of God’s paintbrush, the art of the Earth. 

Small flies, small rods, light line, and exploring new waters.  Cast to a break in the current, under and overhanging limb, or a cut in the bank.  Get a good sized sunnie into a strong current, and it is still a decent tug.

The water on the San Gabriel was moving quick and muddied by recent rains.  When the sky was clouded, the bite was hot. As the sun came out, the bite slowed down.

All the fish were caught on a Rio Poquito, slowly drifted, sometimes stripped downstream or in and around eddies.
