Restricting is Not Protecting
There is no better way to get someone to appreciate the outdoors than to take them out in it. There, they will learn to love and respect nature on their own. Limiting access to waters and lands does nothing to protect them in the long run. You need to show people what they are protecting when they aren't littering, when they are turning off a light, and when they are conserving their water. They have to see why it is important to protect and preserve out native species, and witness the damage that humans can do. The best way to protect what we love is through education, and education is nothing without a hands on experience.
