We all love to fish Texas' wonderful waters and because of this, the protection of the waters, animals, and riparian zones, should be important to us as well.

Texas Freshwater Fly Fishing has compiled a list of a few of the proposed bills that have caught my eyes from the 87th Legislature.  Research the bills, reach out to your representatives, and let them know that you want to protect the waters' of Texas.

TX HB4146

  • Relating to a restriction on permits authorizing direct discharges of waste or pollutants into water in certain stream segments or assessment units.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Tracy King in regards to this bill.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

  • Relating to the participation by local governments in water quality control measures.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Penny Morales Shaw in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

TX HB2652

  • Relating to establishing an advisory board to study surface water and groundwater interaction.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Lyle Larson in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

TX HB2350

  • Relating to financial assistance provided to political subdivisions by the Texas Water Development Board for nature-based water quality enhancement projects.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Erin Zwiener in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

  • Relating to the regulation by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality of the discharge of preproduction plastic from point and nonpoint sources to ensure zero discharge or release of plastic into water or onto land in the state and to ensure the prompt cleanup of any discharged or released plastic.
  • TFFF has reached out to Senator Judith Zaffirini in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

TX HB4204

  • Relating to a study and report on the optimum water level of Falcon Lake.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Ryan Guillen in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

TX HB4489

  • Relating to a restriction on permits authorizing direct discharges of waste or pollutants into water in certain areas associated with the Barton Springs segment of the Edwards Aquifer.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Erin Zwiener in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

TX HB2426

  • Relating to water quality protection areas.
  • TFFF has reached out to Representative Andrew Murr in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.

TX SB1747

  • Relating to a restriction on permits authorizing direct discharges of waste or pollutants into water in certain stream segments or assessment units.
  • TFFF has reached out to Senator Judith Zaffirini in regards to this proposed legislation.  As of writing this, we have not received a response yet.
